New projects​​​

Queensland Rail is dedicated to maintaining a safe and efficient rail network. Whether you are planning infrastructure works, developments, or other activities, our structured application process ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Queensland Rail supports external organisations to deliver projects that impact the rail corridor (i.e. track and track surrounds, rail yards, rail stations and carparks, rail infrastructure) - for example:

  • access roads that cross the rail corridor.
  • new construction or developments that may impact drainage or services within the corridor.
  • road works that may impact level crossings.

Application process​​​

All new projects:

  • ​commence with the online application form - link below.
  • ​must adhere to the Queensland Rail Externally Delivered Project Framework.​​​​ ​
  • ​attract a​ non-refundable application fee of $5,250 ex GST, payable upon submission for the initial desktop assessment. This fee covers the costs associated with progressing new applications, including technical analysis, strategic alignment, business group review, contract design, and negotiation.

​Within two weeks of your application Queensland Rail will:
  • ​assess your project scope, compliance with railway regulations, and potential safety or operational impacts.
  • contact you for additional information.​
  • ​​After initial assessment Queensland Rail will issue an invoice for the non-refundable application fee of $5,250 (excl: GST).  
  • Project development and meetings will commence on payment of the application fee.​
